About Leslie
Counseling approach & style
My approach to counseling is integrative, where I pull from different modalities and therapeutic approaches to meet the individual needs of each client. I want to make sure I am adhering to what the client wants and needs, which informs how I practice.
I am grounded in a trauma informed person centered model. I believe each client is the expert in their own lives and are the drivers of the therapeutic process. Healing can be held and processed through a strong, trusting relationship, empathy, self-compassion, and unconditional positive regard for each client.
I integrate internal family systems, expressive arts therapy, emotion focused therapy, and nervous system regulation techniques into my practice. I also utilize mindfulness practices that can help ground clients into their bodies and the counseling space. I believe that integrating breath-work into the counseling practice is a key component to regulating the nervous system.
I specialize working with adults, young adults and adolescents. I support clients at any life stage that they are moving through or approaching adulthood. I believe it is important to hold space for processing of all life stages and life experiences. All life stages and experiences are important! There is so much to process when moving through this world.
I am now accepting new adult and adolescent clients. I encourage you to schedule a free 15 minute phone consultation with me to decide if we are a good fit. You can book that consultation by clicking the book appointment button.
I am also now practicing in-person in Portland Oregon. My office is located in NE Portland. I am also accepting telehealth clients.
About Me
Hi! My name is Leslie (she/her), I am a cis-gender, able-bodied, white, female Jewish woman. I currently live in Vancouver WA & practice in the state of Oregon. I grew up in Massachusetts. I moved to the PNW in 2018 to obtain my Masters Degree in Counseling from Portland State University. I previously worked as a school counselor in Portland OR for two years and a middle school teacher in Colorado for four years. I have a lot of experience working with adults and adolescents in the school setting. I believe these skills will translate well into the counseling space.
In my free time I enjoy taking my dog Bowie on hikes, going to see live music, reading in the morning with a cup of coffee, and rock climbing. I have too many plants which I love so much and enjoy caring for them!
